Yamaha made a bold move by introducing R15 v3 in india with more feature loaded technologies. One of the important feature yamaha added is the vva or variable valve actuation. So we can dive into the vva
What is vva ?
It is simply a variable valve actuation. In R15 V3 it has 2 step actuation. It basically have different intake valve timing thus provides linear acceleration throughout the rev band without compromising fuel efficiency
How vva works?
In R15 V3 vva mechanism contain 2 different sized cam to control intake. Low cam works in low to mid range rpm and high cam get actuated by a motor in higher rpm. In r15 v3 the actuation take place between 6000-7400 rpm. Actuation rpm can be changed in odo settings.
Benefits of vva?
When low cam working in lower rpm provides standard time for intake valve to close and open. Which is sufficient for lower combustion cycle. In higher rpm the intake valve timing is extended thus more air fuel mixture get into the cylinder which as a result provide linear acceleration without lose of power. So in R15 V3 power and efficiency come hand in hand.
